How much interest is charged on unpaid strata levies?

In most states the maximum is 10% per annum, simple interest, charged from the date the levy was due. Some schemes choose a lower rate or waive interest for short delays. The owners corporation can also recover legal costs of recovery.

Interest must be set at or below the statutory cap and is usually applied automatically by the strata software once a levy is more than 30 days overdue. If you've paid late through hardship, you can ask the committee to waive the interest — many will, on a one-off basis.
