Can I be personally sued as a committee member?

It's very unlikely if you act honestly and reasonably. Office bearers' liability insurance — included in almost every strata insurance policy — protects committee members from personal liability for decisions made in good faith on behalf of the scheme.

You become exposed if you act fraudulently, breach confidentiality, defame someone or knowingly act outside your authority. Always read your scheme's insurance policy schedule so you know the limits, and never sign contracts in your own name on behalf of the owners corporation.
